Summary Power shortfall has declined to 4,400 megawatts as the demand-supply equation has narrowed.
Due to increase in electricity production and decrease in consumption, the shortfall has plummeted, yet the duration of load shedding is 10 to 12 hours a day in the villages and up to eight hours in the urban areas. PEPCO authorities said power consumption is 17,632MWs while power production is 13,182MWs. KESC is being supplied 740MWs. Hydel power input is 5,270, thermal 1,956MWs, IPPs 5,834MWs and rental 122MWs. The shortfall has dropped by 800MWs.
