Summary Details of as many as 25 districts have been provided to the ECP, Punjab government's report states

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday has submitted its reports to the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan regarding holding of local body elections in Punjab and Sindh stating that the details provided by the Punjab government are bogus.

The reports state that the ECP has rejected the details given by Punjab about the delimitations of the local areas, Union Councils and wards. The report states that Punjab government did not provide details about the populations in local areas.

Moreover, the details provided by the Punjab government are not sufficient to start the delimitations work, the report states. The ECP maintained a stance that the maps provided by the Punjab government are bogus and that the work would soon be started after Punjab and Sindh governments provide reliable details. Furthermore, the Provincial Election Commissioners has been instructed regarding the matter.

On the other hand, the report submitted by the Punjab government states that details of as many as 25 districts have been provided to the ECP while the Amendment required in the Local Body Law has been passed by the provincial assembly. The report states that the law would be enacted once the Governor Punjab approves the Amendment.

However, the report submitted by the Sindh government states that the details regarding the delimitations of the local areas, Union Councils and wards have been provided to the ECP whereas the required Amendment in the Local Body Law would be presented in the provincial assembly in its next session.
