Summary The petition states that the 21st Amendment is against several clauses of the Article 125

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Barrister Zafarullah on Wednesday has challenged the 21st Amendment in the Constitution and the Amendment in the Army Act 1952 in the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan.

According to the details, Zafarullah has filed a petition challenging the Amendments stating that the 21st Amendment in the Constitution has changed the basic structure of the Constitution. The petition states that this Amendment is against several clauses of the Article 125 and severely opposes basic rights.

However, the SC has already declared the establishment of the military courts unconstitutional. Now the Amendment in the Army Act has also been challenged in the apex courts.

The petitioner maintains a stance that the Parliament could not amend the Army Act until the approval of the 21st Amendment in the Constitution by the President of Pakistan.
