Summary Power supply to Imran Khan's residence has been cut off for not paying bills.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Electricity supply to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s residence has been cut off on Monday for not paying bills. According to Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) Imran Khan had not paid his electricity bills for past two months.
Power supply to Imran Khan’s residence has been disconnected because of unpaid bills. The bills for three meters connected at Imran Khan’s residence amount to Rs. 87,637, Rs. 28,955 and Rs. 14,174.
IESCO officials said that the bills for three meters of September and August remained unpaid despite a notice served to Imran Khan warning against disconnection of power supply at his Bani Gala residence in case bills were not paid. The notice served to Imran Khan prompted him to clear the dues within one week.
The IESCO officials told that the electricity to Khan’s residence has been cut off under Electricity Act.
According to the Act any consumer who fails or neglects to pay any charge for energy to his premises should be given a notice of not less than seven days to pay the amount after which the electric supply-line or other works being property of licensee should be cut off.
