Summary A group of former MNAs, ministers, bureaucrats and technocrats joined PTI on Monday.
Separately, singer singer Abrar ul Haq also announced joining the PTI.The group led by Tareen also comprises politicians from Seraiki belt, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa had been in touch with Imran Khan in order to finalise modalities for their alliance.According to the sources, the group includes former ministers and senators such as Awais Leghari, Ishaq Khakwani, Sikandar Bosan, Senator Jamal Leghari and Senator Mohabbat Khan Marri from Balochistan. Dr GG Jamal and Ghulam Sarwar Cheema have also joined PTI.Moreover, former MNA Dr Javed Hassan, former World Bank chief in Pakistan Abid Hassan, two former federal secretaries, including former petroleum secretary Waqar Ahmad, former water and power secretary Mirza Hamid Hassan have also announced to join PTI.The sources further said that sister of PML-N MNA Shahid Khaqan Abbasi former senator Sadia Abbasi will also join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.According to political analysts, joining of these influential political figures will strengthen Imran Khan’s political base in Saraiki belt while it can also affect the traditional vote bank of Pakistan People’s Party.The PTI however has been under criticism for including old faces in the party while it speaks of change.Imran Khan, in this respect, has said that the PTI needs over 1,000 candidates to field in all constituencies, and it cannot winnable new faces.In another related development, singer Abrar ul Haq joined PTI on Monday. Abrar made the announcement accompanied by PTI chief Imran Khan at a news conference.
