Summary General Khalid Shameem Wynne has expressed concern over anti-Pakistan statements in US media.
The Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) reportedly met CENTCOM chief Gen James Mattis who called on him at Rawalpindi. General Wynne told Gen Mattis that it is a matter of concern for the armed forces, the government and the people of Pakistan that a campaign is being launched against Pakistan in the US media. He enunciated the sacrifices made by Pakistan in the war on terror.The CENTCOM chief is visiting Pakistan against the backdrop of a tirade of accusations launched against Pakistan. Gen Mattis yesterday called on COAS Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani who has also expressed concern over the bids to undermine Pakistan’s unmatched contribution in fighting the war on terror.The ISPR said General Khalid Shameem Wynne reiterated Pakistan’s unflinching desire for peace in the region. General Wyne expressed his concern about the negative statements emanating from the US, a military statement said, adding that he stressed upon addressing the irritants in the relationship which are a result of an extremely complex situation.Pakistan armed forces are committed to achieving enduring peace in the region which will only be possible through mutual trust and cooperation, the statement said.
