Turkey offers special liver transplant facilities for Pakistani patients

ISLAMABAD (Daily Dunya) – Turkish Director General for Health Oner Guner met State Minister for National Health Services Regulations and Coordination, Saira Afzal Tarar and discussed various issues in health sector.

The minister told the delegation that each year 1,500 Pakistani patients require liver transplant facility over which DG health said that Turkish government is offering special package to the Pakistani liver patients.

Head of the Turkish delegation said Turkey enjoyed a special relationship with Pakistan and special discounted package was being offered for Pakistani patients requiring transplant procedures. He elaborated that each patient was followed up for whole life after the procedure.

He said special assessment centers will be arranged in parts of the country for the treatment of those who want liver transplant. The delegation also offered capacity building of Pakistan doctors and facilities to conduct liver transplant operations in Pakistan.

Both ministers also discussed visa facilities.

Earlier a briefing was given by Director Institution of Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Dr Razia Safdar regarding the liver transplant situation, challenges being faced by patients.
