LAHORE (Dunya News) – Young Doctors Association (YDA) on Thursday staged protests across the country for not increasing salaries and ensuring better service structure.
Young doctors in Lahore, Gujranwala and Faisalabad took to the streets, demanding to raise their incentives and other facilities.
The protesters while carrying placards inscribed with their demands chanted slogans against provincial governments for failing to raise their salaries.
In Lahore, doctors protested outside Jinnah Hospital and Services Hospital and blocked main roads. The act badly irked locals that also sparked an exchange of harsh words.
In Gujranwala, medical practitioners closed OPD and led a rally for the same cause. During the demonstration, the doctors were seen busy in eating sandwiches and taking selfies.
Separately in Faisalabad, doctors stated that Punjab government made tall claims to improve the health facilities but no action has been taken in this regard so far. They held sit-in at Jail Road and also raised slogans.
The protesters urged the government to withdraw the decision regarding deducting 15 percent from hospitals’ budget and to promote the young doctors to Grade 18.
Meanwhile, the patients suffered a lot due to the protest. The hospital administration had to make arrangements to check the outdoor patients but there was a shortage of doctors.
