KARACHI (Dunya News) – One of the eight terrorists involved in seven police killings in Orangi Town gun attacks has been nabbed, Dunya News reported Thursday.

Law enforcement agencies (LEA) copped the militant with help of CCTV footage that Dunya News aired yesterday in the late afternoon.

At least eight terrorists were involved in two separate attacks on police personnel that were guarding polio teams in Karachi’s Orangi Town on Wednesday.

The security forces are continuing hunt for the rest of culprits.

On the other hand, funeral prayers of the martyred personnel were offered Wednesday. Chief Minister (CM) Qaim Ali Shah, Home Minister Suhail Anwar Siyal, Corps Commander Karachi Lieutenant General Naveed Mukhtar, Director-General (DG) Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar, Inspector-General (IG) Sindh and other higher-ups were present.

The officials paid salutes to the martyrs after the prayers.

Late Wednesday night, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and other LEAs detained 11 suspects, including a woman in different raids. A case was launched at Counter-Terrorism Department Garden station against unidentified miscreants for seven police murders.

Rangers Sindh (Director General (DG) Major General Bilal Akbar stated that the miscreants would not be able to remain at large for long after yesterday’s attack. He vowed to speed-up the targeted operation that was launched in September 2013 against target killers, terrorists and politically motivated violence.

Sindh Police Inspector General (IG) AD Khawaja denounced the attack and chaired a meeting to review security situation of the province especially the provincial capital.

Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif stated that police are rendering sacrifices in Karachi to being back the peace the city enjoyed back in the day.

Karachi, a sprawling city of over 20 million people was worst hit by terror attacks before Rangers-led operation was initiated. Law and order situation in the city bettered in the last two years and crime rate has ebbed.
