KARACHI (Dunya News) – A local court in Karachi on Tuesday has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant of Sarfraz Merchant for the second time.

The court has directed the police to present the details of the suspect’s movable and non-movable property alongwith blocking his National Identity Card (NIC).

The court has also ordered authorities to present him before court on May 16.

A case was registered against Merchant in Darakhshan Police Station. Challan filed by the police writes Merchant a fugitive.

Complainant Asad Alim Niazi has alleged Merchant of threatening to file a bogus case, receiving Rs 12 crore and snatching his car on March 12, 2014.

Merchant is a also suspect in money laundering case against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain.


The whistle-blower


Earlier in March, Merchant had revealed in programme Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath that he became friends with Altaf Hussain in 2007 and he had lent a loan to the party chief after his accounts were frozen in Britain in 2012.

Merchant further revealed that the Scotland Yard had informed MQM of its funding by India during the interview.

He stated that MQM had registered a company by the name of ‘Euro Property’ for the transfer of money.

Merchant had stated that Indian intelligence RAW’s personnel used to visit MQM member Mohammad Anwar’s house.

Merchant had claimed that he could support the allegations with proofs. He requested the authorities concerned to inlcude officials of intelligence departments in the committee. Merchant had further said that he was not in contact with any MQM member.
