ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Maldivian president Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayoom on Thursday met Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif at PM House in Islamabad to discuss ways out to enhance bilateral relations.

While addressing a joint news conference after holding talks, PM Nawaz stated that Pakistan wants to have peaceful relations with its neighboring countries and also showed concerns over the expansion of bilateral ties between the states.

Maldivian president thanked PM Nawaz and the people of Pakistan for their hospitality and expressed that Maldives attaches high importance to its relations with Pakistan.

Talking about the tsunami that devastated infrastructure of Maldives, the president added that ‘Pakistan was there to help us in our bad times’.

Both leaders stressed to continue close coordination on the platform of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

Maldivian president further inspected the guard of honor and arrangements whereas the both leaders also introduced their delegations with one another.
