Summary No government official, including the Prime Minister can take part in election campaign

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The issuance of nomination papers for country wide Cantonment Boards elections began on Tuesday. The polling for General Councilors will be held on April 25. The Election Commission has announced the code of conduct, barring government officials, including the Prime Minister from taking part in the election campaign.

The nomination papers can be submitted from March 29 to 31. Scrutiny will be done during April 2 to 4. The candidates will be able to submit appeals until April 4th, while the decisions on appeals will be announced on 9th of April.

Candidates will be able to withdraw their nomination papers by 10th of April while the election symbols will be allotted on 11th of April.

According to Election Commission, 199 General Councilors will be elected from 42 cantonment boards in first round of elections on 25th April. Election results will be announced on 28th of April.

In the second round of election, newly elected General Councilors will select representatives of female workers, minority youth and farmers.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has announced their support for 10 candidates from Lahore Cantonment Board while 37 candidates of various political parties have got the nomination papers from Lahore Cantonment Board.
