Summary Committee recommends ECP should not ask about number of party's members or about manifestos.
LAHORE (Dunya News) -- The Electoral Reforms Committee has demanded to reduce the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP)’s power regarding political delimitations and suo moto notices. The committee recommends that ECP should at least tell the reasons behind suo moto notices. Political leaders who are members of the committee also demanded that ECP should not be authorized to ask for the number of a party’s members or their party manifesto.
Members of the committee said that ECP works in a dictatorial manner and many of its rules are against democratic values. Committee also recommended amendments in Political Parties Order 2002. ECP’s power of taking suo moto action should be reduced, the recommendations added.
