Summary Free and mandatory education up till matriculation legislation was also made during the session
LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Punjab Assembly has approved the bill to handover the job of redefining local body constituencies to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). It was also legislated during the session that education up till matriculation should be free and mandatory. Resolution of condemnation of sit-ins, terming them conspiracy against democracy, was also passed during the session.
Punjab Assembly also gave the right of making electoral lists to ECP in Local Bodies Amendment Bill 2014. Previously, provincial government had this authority.
Assembly resolved to fight the conspiracies against democracy. The resolution also reposed assembly’s trust in Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Punjab Assembly also approved the Punjab Strategic Coordination Bill. According to this bill, Strategic Coordination Board will be set up which will be responsible to stay in contact with federal secretaries and intelligence agencies. This strategic board and council will have powers equal to provincial security council.
Punjab Assembly also passed the bill to make education till matriculation free and compulsory. According to this bill, parents will be compelled to get their kids educated and government will be compelled to provide them education.
Punjab Assembly also passed the resolution regarding recommending federal government to restore the regional quotas of the underdeveloped areas in government jobs.
