Summary President of Pakistan also notified Justice Jawad Khawaja as acting CJ in absence of CJ Nasirul Mulk
LAHORE: (Dunya News) – President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain has given 1-year extensions to 6 additional judges of Lahore High Court (LHC). The judges include Justice Mehmood Ahmad Bhatti, Justice Arshad Mehmood Tabassum, Justice Tariq Abbasi, Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Masood Jehangir, Justice Sadaaqat Ali Khan and Justice M Suhail Iqbal Bhatti. President of Pakistan has given extension to these judges on the advice of Prime Minister of Pakistan.
On the other hand, President Mamnoon Hussain has also notified the senior most judge of Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) to act as Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) in case the current CJP Nasirul Mulk is abroad. He approved this appointment on the advice of Prime Minister under the Article 180 of the constitution.
Justice Nasirul Mulk is leaving for Korea on 31st of October along with a delegation on an official trip. The next available senior-most judge has also been given power to take oath from the acting chief justice by the president.
