Three soldiers among 10 killed as rain wreaks havoc in Azad Kashmir

Summary Heavy intermittent rainfall may trigger flash flooding and landslides, Met Office reported.

MUZAFFARABAD (Web Desk) - Three army personnel died while another three were injured in a landslide near Line of Control (LoC) in Azad Kashmir, Dunya News reported.

According to ISPR, the incident took place in Keller Sector on Wednesday night. The deceased include Captain Fazal, soldiers Suleiman and Ghulam Mohiuddin.

Separately, a 17-year-old student drowned in River Poonch at Tatta. A ninth grade student and a 10-year-old child were swept away in seasonal nullahs in Bagh area. Their bodies could not be retrieved as yet.

Another person died and three others were injured when a Jeep fell into a seasonal nullah in Palandari. A 70-year-old woman in Khoi Ratta and another person in Bhimber areas were killed due to roof collapse.

Road link of District Haveli has been suspended due to heavy rains and land sliding.

According to Pakistan Meteorolical Department, widespread rain and thundershowers with isolated heavy at times very heavy falls are expected in Kashmir during Thursday to Friday. Heavy intermittent rainfall may trigger flash flooding and landslides in the vulnerable areas of Kashmir.

The Met Office has also warned that all rivers in Punjab are likely to get “exceptionally high” Sep 5-7 because of the intensification of rains reported in various parts of the country.
