Balochistan LG polls: Election Commission receives 221 complaints

Summary The Election Commission held local bodies elections in Balochistan on Saturday.

QUETTA (Dunya News) - The Election Commission Cell received at least 221 complaints during the holding of local government (LG) elections in Balochistan yesterday, Dunya News reported on Sunday.

According to Election Commission sources, most of the complaints received by cell were related to the delay in polling and absence of electoral symbols on ballot papers.

Moreover, few complaints were registered against casting of fake votes in some areas of Balochistan.

The complaints were mostly filed by residents of urban areas while election commission didn’t receive any complain of any group forcibly stopping residents from casting vote.

According to unofficial results, around 303 independent candidates were elected from different constituencies while on the whole, National Party had won majority of the seats.

Over 17,000 candidates contested for 4,168 seats. The Election Commission established 5,715 polling stations while 11,847 booths were setup across Balochistan.
