Summary SC acquitted one suspect serving death sentence after 5 years of imprisonment, another after 11
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Supreme Court (SC) on Friday acquitted a suspect serving life sentence after 11 years of the verdict and acquitted another one given death sentence five years ago, reported Dunya News.
The man serving life sentence for 11 years finally got justice as SC acquitted him of the charges today. Another suspect accused of murdering his lover’s husband was also acquitted five years after being sentenced to death. SC acquitted him, Muhammad Anaar, giving him benefit of the doubt.
Giving his remarks over the issue, Justice Asif Saeed Khosa said that a suspect is given justice after spending a huge part of his life in jail while no action is taken against the fake petitioner. He said that according to the testimony of a child, the suspect also milked a cow after committing the murder. He said that the testimonies were unbelievable.
Overturning another decision by Lahore High Court in a kidnapping case, SC acquitted Muhammad Shahid, earlier sentenced to death. The court said that the police made up a self-serving story to trap the suspect. The judge said in his remarks that neither was there a report of kidnapping filed nor was the kidnapped found from the kidnapper’s custody. He added that the entire story seemed dubious.
