TEHRAN (Dunya News) – Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who is on a two-day visit to Iran, met President Masoud Pezeshkian and Parliament Bagher Ghalibaf in the capital Tehran on Sunday and discussed regional situation arose after US-Israel attack on the country.

President Pezeshkian praised Pakistan’s role in efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire in the war imposed on Iran on February 28.

According to Iran’s state news agency, President Pezeshkian praised Pakistan’s role in efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire and commended the contributions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir.

He expressed hope that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts would play an important role in establishing lasting peace in the region.

The Iranian president said that Iran seeks sincere and stable relations with Islamic countries in the region, adding that unity among Muslim nations could reduce the chances of interference by external powers.

He emphasized that coordination and solidarity among Islamic countries could form the foundation for durable peace and stability.

President Pezeshkian also appreciated Pakistan’s initiatives to promote border trade and economic cooperation, saying there was significant potential to expand bilateral collaboration in the economic, trade, scientific, cultural, and regional sectors.

He further expressed Iran’s desire to enhance cooperation with Pakistan in the fields of science, education, and technology.

He stated that despite recent wartime conditions, Iran and Pakistan had grown closer than ever, describing it as a valuable opportunity to further strengthen ties between the two neighboring countries.

On the occasion, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that Iran and Pakistan had become closer than ever before and that the brotherly relations between Tehran and Islamabad should be further strengthened.

He added that the two countries share deep historical, cultural, and people-to-people ties, and that the people of Pakistan hold sincere affection and respect for the Iranian nation.

NAQVI, GHALIBAF DISCUSS STABILITY IN REGION

Later, Interior Minister Naqvi and Iranian Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf discussed ways of lasting peace and stability in the region.

According to Iranian media, Ghalibaf appreciated Pakistan’s cooperation and support during the recent conflict and said that there is a need to further enhance cooperation between the two countries in economic, cultural, and other sectors.

He stated that recent events show that the US presence in the region is a major cause of the lack of security which negatively affects regional stability. He added that countries in the region should adopt a joint approach to promote political and security cooperation.

Speaking on the occasion, Naqvi said that Islamabad witnessed Ghalibaf’s efforts to protect Iran’s interests and resolve issues during negotiations. He said that the bond between people of Iran and Pakistan has grown stronger. The people of Pakistan pray for the success of the Iranian government and nation, he stated.
