Four extortionists arrested after 'encounter' in Karachi

126 absconders and 160 criminals held in Balochistan
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Police on Tuesday night claimed to have arrested four extortionists after an exchange of fire near Guru Mandir here, Dunya News has reported.
According to SIU police SSP, their two accomplices managed to escape after firing. He said the arrested suspects included an injured who sustained bullet injuries during the shootouts.
The suspects were involved in several cases of receiving extortion money at gunpoint. Police recovered two motorcycles, mobile phones and weapons.
The injured suspect was shifted to hospital. A hunt for the fleeing suspects was launched. Further investigation was underway. Police said actions against street criminals and extortionists have intensified.
126 ABSCONDERS AND 160 CRIMINALS ARRESTED
Meanwhile, Balochistan IG Muhammad Tahir has said police have stepped up crackdowns on criminals and arrested 126 absconders and 160 criminals.
He said nine abductees have also been rescued from kidnappers in different operations. Weapons and plundered valuables have been seized from the arrested outlaws.
