Summary A stray seal was rescued afternoon in the cracks of reefs off the Penglai coast.
A local fisherman named Hu Lixin heard the yell of the seal when patrolling the sea, and found it left alone in the reefs. When approaching it, the seal glared and tried to bite me, said Hu Lixin. I then grabbed a big spoon net to cover it and put it into a bag.” Hu called the border police station immediately and the police came to the site with staff members of Shandong Aquatic Wildlife Rescue Center Penglai Branch. The vets identified it was a spotted seal of just a month old.As the seal was newly born, the staff members of the Rescue Center Penglai Branch brought it back for artificial feeding and further observation. And the seal is now in sound condition. Some wild cubs could easily run aground for the rough storms in the sea recently, said the rescuers. They hope anyone finding such animals report to relative departments immediately.
