Summary In the US State of Missouri, a surprise pre-dawn coating of ice from freezing rain sent cars and trucks sliding out of control, leading to a pile-up of at least 31 vehicles on a major interstate highway.
It took nearly five hours to clear the highway in St. Louis, Missouri following a series of accidents in the area. According to police, one person was critically injured and another 20 suffered minor injuries. The National Weather Service said sleet and freezing rain were also responsible for several other minor crashes on ramps and overpasses in the region.
