Summary Pakistan defeated New Zealand 4-2 in the opening match of Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament on Thursday.
Muhammad Rizwan Senior gave Pakistan 1-0 lead in the 3rd minute of the first half through a field goal.Sayed Kashif Shah doubled the lead for Pakistan when he took advantage of a rebound from a penalty corner in the 24th minute.The Green Shirts were leading 2-0 at the half time.Abdul Haseem Khan made it 3-0 in the 51st minute when he scored a goal on a good cross from Muhammad Waqas.Andrew Hayward reduced the deficit for New Zealand by converting a penalty corner in the 59th minute but Umar Butt put Pakistan 4-1 ahead in 61st minute through a fine goal.Pakistan will face South Korea in the next match on Friday.
