Summary The PCB settled down its row with Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland.
PCB chief operating officer Subhan Ahmad talked to Sutherland on the matter. Sutherland clarified that his comments on Justice Qayyum’s inquiry were not meant to put the PCB in a difficult position.Sutherland explained that it was in response to a question during an interview and not intended to criticise anyone. After the clarification of Sutherland, the PCB decided not to pursue the matter any further.Sutherland had suggested in April that last years spot-fixing scandal - after which three Pakistan players were banned - might not have occurred if the PCB had acted properly on the recommendations of the Qayyum commission in 2000.The Pakistan Cricket Board had requested the ICC to investigate Sutherlands comments. The sport’s governing body asked the parties to sort out the issue with consensus.
