Police officer responsible for Kharotabad tragedy

Justice Muhammad Hashim Kakar of the Balochistan High Court, who is leading a tribunal to investigate Kharotabad tragedy, on Saturday, rejected an appeal by Balochistan Advocate General (AG) Amanullah Kunrani not to record the statements of witnesses in the court due to sensitivity of the case.Justice Kakar said that all the statements were being recorded in open and in a transparent manner.In his statement, journalist Amanullah Shadezai said that all the victims of the Kharotabad tragedy were unarmed and they were reciting “kalmia”, but even then they were showered with bullets. He said that the process of investigation should not be held in a close room.Shadezai also said that Raza Khan of the Quetta police was responsible for the tragedy as he concealed the facts from the police and FC officials.Raza Khan stopped the capital city police officer from approaching the victims, saying they had been wearing suicide jackets.
