Summary Power distribution companies (DISCOs) have demanded raise in power tariff by Rs 6.50 per unit.
The demand has been made for tariff of October to January. The companies have demanded NEPRA to raise tariff by Rs 2.32 per unit for October, Rs 1.29 for November, Rs 0.98 for December and Rs 1.96 per unit for the month of January, totalling it to Rs 6.5 per unit.NEPRA would decide on the tariff pleas on March 20.If NEPRA consented to the demand, the tariff hike would be passed on the consumers in phases. This would be very unfortunate decision from public’s point of view as majority of the people are already finding it hard to cope with the upward spiral of prices.
