Summary Former MNA and PML-Q leader Marvi Memon has joined PML-N.
Talking to a press conference along with PML-N chief in Raiwind, Marvi said, “My first encounter with PMLN was when I saw them fighting for democracy against President Musharraf. I never understood then what I understood on the eve of my resignation from parliament; the importance of not being part of establishment’s politics. I learnt this lesson in three years whilst other politicians who are twenty years my senior have still not learnt it and are playing power politics under the establishment’s umbrella even today. PMLN learnt this lesson the hard way and truly moved on.”Marvi further said that after 8 months of serious thinking, she had decided to join the party which had taken visible reform steps in the direction of new politics, adding that she had examined all the propaganda against PML-N and discussed it threadbare with the leadership. She vowed to serve the people of Pakistan from the platform of PML-N as a worker, adding that she needed no position but only want to serve the nation as a PML-N worker.PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif said that no compromise would be made on principles. He said that people like Marvi is an asset of the party and all those who want to do something for the country should join PML-N.Marvi had resigned from the National Assembly seat in June last year. She is widely respected in political and social due to her bold political stance. Both the PML-N and PTI had approached Memon to join their ranks.At the conference, Nawaz said that the Chaudhry brothers can join his party but only after they apologise for supporting a dictator.
