Summary Lahore High Court orders to release suspect allegedly involved in Sri Lankan team attack.
Amid tight security, suspect Malik Ishaq was presented before the review board comprising LHC’s Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh, Justice Sheikh Ahmed Farooq and Justice Manzoor Ahmed Malik.Representative of Punjab government contended that Malik Ishaq the alleged mastermind of attack on Sri Lankan team, was kept under house arrest due to present law & order situation.It was further argued that suspicious material and extremist literature have also been recovered from the suspect that is why duration of Malik Ishaq’s house arrest should be extended by a month.The honorable board while declaring provincial government’s arguments unsatisfactory ordered the authorities to end Malik Ishaq’s house arrest.Attack onSri Lankan cricket team occurred on March 3, 2009, when a bus carrying Sri Lankan cricketers, part of a larger convoy, was fired upon by 12 gunmen, near the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
