Summary PM Gilani has said the government respects the judiciary and its decisions.
Talking to media in Lahore on Friday‚ Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said the government respects the judiciary and all its decision will be implemented. He said all state institutions should work within their constitutional limits to avoid any clash in future.To a question Prime Minister said that there is no confrontation between the government and judiciary and his appearance in the Supreme Court reflects his respect for the judiciary.Terming the allegations by opposition parties as baseless‚ he said that the whole nation knows as to what opposition parties had done during their terms in office. He said that government will complete opposition parties in all elections.Replying a question he said that I am longest serving democratically elected Prime Minister of the country and will continue to serve the nation according to mandate given by it.He said that the constitution of Pakistan was given by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Shaheed and it has been restored by the present PPP government in its true form.Answering a question about restoration of NATO supplies‚ the Prime Minister said the issue has been referred to the Parliamentary Committee on National Security and after its recommendations a joint session of the Parliament will be convened for a final decision.He said the government will implement the decision of the Parliament on the issue in letter and spirit.Gilani said a dictator succumbed to foreign pressure in the past and accepted its demands on a single phone call. He said dictators in spite of remaining in power for decades could not solve peoples problems and they have no political future.He said the PPP government with the support of one hundred and eighty million people of Pakistan not only suspended NATO supplies but also got the Shamsi Airbase vacated and boycotted the Bonn Conference on Afghanistan.Responding to a question regarding energy crisis, the Prime Minister said the government will resolve all problems of the people including electricity and gas shortfall. He said over three thousand three hundred megawatt electricity has been added to national grid. He said the problem of circular debt will also be addressed too soon.Earlier‚ addressing the convocation of Lahore College for Women University‚ the Prime Minister said the PPP government is committed to empowerment of women through education.He said the government is working to bring women in the mainstream of development as they form an important part of the society.He said that the government fully realizes the importance of education for the development and prosperity of the country and we have taken various measures for raising the literacy rate.He said due to the importance of the technical education‚ the government has created a separate Ministry for technical education. He said the National Assembly has passed the bill of National Commission on Status of Women.
