Summary The eunuchs have been divided into three categories to include their names in the voters list.
Provincial Election Commissioner Sonu Khan Baloch chaired a meeting regarding registration of eunuchs’ names in voters’ lists. The meeting was held at Sindh Election Commission.The Provincial Election Commissioner said the voters lists would be completed till February 23 on the direction of the Supreme Court and names of eunuchs would be included in the new list. The eunuchs have been divided into three categories including he-male, she-male and Khansa.The he-male and khansa would be registered in the male’s voter lists while she-male would be registered in the female’s voters’ list.He said the eunuchs who will not provide their residential addresses, will not be included in the voters’ lists and would be declared as gypsy.The election commission authorities told the meeting that names of 179 eunuchs have been registered for the voters’ lists.Speaking on this occasion, eunuchs’ representative Faqir Sanam said more than 17000 eunuchs were residents of Sindh out of which 4000 have been registered. He said eunuchs in Sindh were satisfied with the decision of the Supreme Court.Faqir Sanam said some eunuchs did not apply for National Identity Cards (NICs) due to the property disputes.
