Summary Chief Justice identified forgery in Customs documents for import of rental power plants machinery.
A two-member bench of Supreme Court led by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the Rental Power Plants case. The Chief Justice remarked that the name of plant manufacturing company has not been mentioned in the documents, adding that outdated machinery was purchased.Furthering his comments, CJ Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that party interests were prioritized instead of giving to consumers.The Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervaiz Ashraf while arguing said that power plant were not working due to allegations of rival forces, adding that the project undoubtedly was delayed but no element of corruption was found in this regard.The price of machinery was showed less to avoid custom duty, observed the Chief Justice. Hearing of case is adjourned till Monday.
