Summary CJP, while hearing NRO review petition, said federal government should not protect the thieves.
The 17-member-bench of Supreme Court led by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is hearing the NRO review petition. Government counsel Babar Awan said that the Swiss cases against President Zardari could not be reopened and court should review the verdict in this regard.The Chief Justice, in his remarks, said that why only the federal government is objecting on the decision of NRO case. How the government would defend the law made to shelter corruption and granting pardon to culprits, the SC observed. The court maintained that the federation is not for protecting the thieves. Babar Awan said that people knew better who were murderers and thieves.
