Summary Supreme Court ordered to register cases of PR corruption and purchase irregularities in NAB.
Two member bench of Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the suo motu notice over non-payment of salaries and pensions of railway workers.Chairman Pakistan Railways Javed Iqbal informed the court that workers’ salaries and pension will be transferred through banks from December whereas, payments for November will be given from tomorrow.Chief Justice, in his remarks, said that the culture of paying bribe for legal work if getting popular in Pakistan Railways. CJP said that railway authorities are liable to criminal negligence for taking proper measure for restoration of 500 engines after dumping.Sheikh Rashid, also a party in the case, blamed that mechanical staff have been sent on forced leave in order to import new engines.Secretary railway board Shafeeq Ullah said that a task force of mechanical engineers has been formed for the restoration of engines. The court ordered to sent the case of sale of railway scrap and irregularities in purchase of railway goods to NAB. The court also directed to release the railway land from land mafia.
