Summary Justice (r) Javed Iqbal has been appointed as Chairman of missing persons commission, told SC.
A 3-member bench of the Supreme Court comprising Justice Shakir Ullah Jan, Justice Jawad S Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain heared the case regarding the missing persons.Additional Attorney General K K Agha told the court that the government had appointed Justice (r) Javed Iqbal as chairman of the commission.Defence of Human Rights (DHR) Chairperson Amna Masood Janjua told the court that she had no trust on the report of Ministry of Defence. “My husband is in the custody of intelligence agencies and I have all the evidence in this regard”, she added.Mother of Faisal Mirza said, “I am slowly dying but nothing is known to me about my son. Nothing is being told to me and even my statement has not been recorded”.Aamna Masud Janjua said she wanted to meet DG ISI to give him some suggestions. “Our objective is to settle the issue and we are ready to pardon the responsible persons on this count. We want our dear ones”, she said.Justice Jawad S Khawaja said, “Court will not pardon those found responsible even if you pardon them. Action will be taken against every one whosoever conducted wrong investigation.” The court adjourning the hearing of the case till October12.
