Summary SHC has ordered on Monday to release Mohajir Qaumi Movement (Haqiqi) Chairman Afaq Ahmed on bail.

The Sindh High Court (SHC) court heard the arguments of Ahmed’s counsel on a plea seeking bail and withdrawal of the murder charges. The MQM-H chief was booked in the murder case of Muttahida Qaumi Movement activist Atiq-ur-Rehman by the Nabi Bux police in June 2009, and the trial court had rejected the acquittal plea of the applicant. In the earlier proceedings, Afaq’s counsel Mohammad Farooq contended before the court that no evidence against the MQM-H chief was found by the police and his client had nothing to do with the offence because he had been in jail since April 2004, and a case was registered on June 20, 2009.He submitted that there was no iota of the evidence to implicate the applicant in the case, besides the investigation officer also did not charge-sheet the applicant due to lack of evidence. The court accepted the bail orders and instructed for his release.
