Summary Pakistan and US are at odd over demands of a written agreement on way ahead in region, sources said.
It is learnt that Pakistan is urging the United States to have blueprints signed on the issue of cooperation in the region and intelligence sharing, though the US administration is insisting on verbal understandings. The situation has comes to a deadlock at the moment, with both sides sticking to their point of view.Washington’s relations have grown increasingly strained with Pakistan, which was angered and embarrassed by a US raid on May 2 that killed Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad.US leaders did not notify their Islamabad counterparts in advance of the nighttime operation by Navy SEAL commandos deep inside Pakistan, fearing that Pakistani officials might tip off bin Laden’s circle.The US has lately piled up pressure on Pakistan to go after the Haqqani network. Pakistan maintains the stance that it needs substantial evidence to launch an operation against the Haqqanis.
