Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani says he has cancelled his visit to the UN for flood affectees.Addressing flood affectees during his visit to a relief camp set up by Air Force at Nawabshah, and later talking to the media on Saturday, the PM said food items and medicines would be provided to affectees in camps. “We are planning to provide relief assistance to people at their doorsteps,” he added.Flood is a natural calamity, he said. “I have become prime minister due to people and I have cancelled my visit to the UN to look after the people,” he said.To a question, he said the opposition could make only demands and we are in government and it is our job to fulfill them.When the PM arrived at the airport, the concerned quarters gave him briefing about the losses caused caused by floods, and relief aid being provided to the people.During its briefing, the NDMA (National Disaster Management Authority) told the PM that 342 people died due to heavy rains and over 600 people were injured.
