MPs fail to reach consensus on ways to implement SC verdicts

Summary Parliament special body failed to reach consensus for implementation of Supreme Courts decisions.

The session of the special committee for law and order was held under the chair of Khurshid Shah in the Parliament House. Law and order situation in Quetta and Karachi was discussed in detail.The PML-N made a suggestion regarding parliamentary supervision but it could not be agreed on due to opposition by the PPP, the MQM and the JUI.Consequently, the disagreed section was excluded from the list of rules and regulations.Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that there was sufficient procedure to implement the decisions made by the Supreme Court.It is worth mentioning that the committee also reviewed the ratio of crimes from 1999 till now and put recommendations to take short-term and long-term steps for restoration of law and order in the country.
