The Pakistani embassy in Washington celebrated the 65th Independence Day of Pakistan here with traditional fervor and enthusiasm.Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States Husain Haqqani hoisted the national flag at a ceremony, attended by Pakistanis living in the area and diplomatic staff, their families and children clad in Pakistani costumes. The national anthem was played.The ambassador read out messages of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani on the occasion.The ceremony began with recitation of the Holy Qur’an and concluded with prayers for progress, security, prosperity and solidarity of Pakistan.
