Summary AG Maulvi has informed the SC Gilgat Baltistan CM has refused to relieve Hussain Asghar.
During the hearing In the Supreme Court Supreme Court of the Hajj corruption case Attorney General Heneral Maulvi Anwarul Haq said Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister refused to relieve Mr Asghar from the position until a new inspector general is appointed, Mr Haq said.Gilgit-Baltistan’s chief minister has refused Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry inquired from Mr Haq if the transfer of Mr Asghar was legal and constitutional.He further said that certain quarters in the government did not welcome the court’s order and that the court was taking the matter seriously.AG also told the court that he was not able to contact Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani over the relegation of Sohail Ahmed from the post of establishment secretary to a sinecure post of ‘official on special duty’.Suhail Ahmed has been punished for obeying the court’s orders to transfer Hussain Asghar, the IG of Gilgit-Baltistan, back to the FIA to enable him to resume investigation into the unprecedented mismanagement in last year’s Haj operations. The move angered the government because the secretary did not seek the prime minister’s approval.
