The US Ambassador keenly observed the renovation work at the shrine and reassured US aid to restore the shrine in its original shape.The caretaker of the shrine informed the US Ambassador about different aspects of the renovation work and requested for the early completion of the work.Tight security arrangements were made on the occasion of the US Ambassador’s visit to Multan.The US Ambassador Cameron Munter inaugurated a new US-funded mango processing line at Lutfabad Farm on Sunday. As a result of US-provided infrastructure upgrades, 13 farms in Southern Punjab will be able to export delicious Pakistani mangos to foreign markets.Speaking at the event, Ambassador Munter said, “Just one year ago, Secretary Clinton pledged US. support to developing the export capacities of mango farmers. What we are seeing here today are tangible results of this pledge.”The US partnership with mango producers is expected to yield a 30 million dollar increase in mango export revenue in the next two years, three million dollars of new investment, and 6,000 new jobs in Punjab and Sindh.The mango project is designed to support economic growth, fuel job creation, and improve living standards. Development assistance is one component of the comprehensive, long-term relationship between the US government and the Pakistani people.During his two-day visit to Multan, Ambassador Munter will also meet with Punjabi business and political leaders as well as alumni from US-sponsored exchange programs.
