Summary Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani said that ties with America are in our national interests.
There is a consensus on starting strategic dialogue with the US.While talking to media in Lahore, she said that Pakistan wishes to have good links with its neighbours but our sincerity should not be regarded as weakness.She further informed that she had informed Hillary Clinton, the US foreign secretary of the state, about reservations of Pakistan.She stressed that the entire world had accepted the importance of Pakistan in the region, adding that we would like to have bi-lateral relations with the US.While throwing light on the meeting with the Chinese foreign minister, she said that it proved fruitful and successful with the hope that with the passage of time, there would be an improvement in this regard.She contended, “We would like to have an ideal relations with our neighbours, but it must be kept in mind that dialogue with India cannot come to an end over one night.”Pakistan is an independent country of the Sought Asia which cannot be suppressed at any cost, she added.She further stated that Pakistan had given tremendous sacrifices in war on terror, adding Pakistan role in ASEAN could be ignored.While commenting on Ghulan Nabi Fai, she said that he worked for Kashmir-cause within the jurisdiction of USA.
