Karachi violence: Death toll reaches 23, pillion riding banned

Summary Death toll in Karachi has reached 23 while pillion riding has been banned again in the city.

Firing continued throughout night in Karachi while death toll has reached 23 after a bagged dead body was found in Usmanabad.A man was killed in Malir during firing between two rival groups while seven people were injured.Some unknown persons killed 4 people in Orangi Town and Gulshan-e-Iqbal while 4 people were also killed near New Karachi Ada Mor and UP Mor.In another incident, some unidentified motorcyclists shot dead 3 people in Karimabad. Firing also continued in Gulsan-e-Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam Colony due to which shopping centres were closed in the area.The rival groups have been clashing each other in Landhi 89 after which Rangers’ anti-terrorist squad launched operation in certain areas of Daood Chorangi and Landhi, however, no arrests could be made during the action.Rockets were also fired in different areas, compelling the people to remain at their homes. A newspaper vendor was also shot dead near a chicken shop in Landhi while the owner of a general store suffered.Likewise, a man was killed in firing at Mawacha Mor Baldia Town. Furthermore, two men were injured with the firing of unknown armed men in the Ali Gar Colony within the jurisdiction of Orangi Town.In the same way, an ill-fated man was shot dead in Ram Swami. Badar Afzal who was hurt injured two days before was succumbed to injuries. Meanwhile Sindh IG Wajid Durrani has directed Additional IG Karachi and other higher police officials to devise a strategy to control the worsening situation in the city.
