Summary Afghan Commissioner terminates services of 250 contract employees.

After Provincial Disaster Management Authority’s (PDMA) taking over of all rehabilitation process of IDPs’ camps, the Afghan commissioner has terminated the services of 250 contract employees.Sources have informed that Afghan commissionerate had refused to take the responsibilities for these IDP camps after which UN’S department concerned signed an accord with the Provincial government, handing over the management of IDP camps to PDMA.The terminated employees have been adjusted in various departments of Provincial ministries.Earlier, In collaboration with the World Food Programme, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority KP, had planned to provide compensation money worth Rs 4,750 per family monthly to IDPs of Bajaur, Mohmand and Khyber Agencies in Jalozai camp.According to PDMA, the cash for food purchasehad commenced from June 16, 2011, and was provided to the IDPs for two months.A head-counting survey was launched by UNHCR and the implementing partner of WFP in March 2011 in which 4004 families residing in Jalozai camp were identified for cash compensation. Later on after verification, 3702 families were found eligible for the financial support. The cash for food purchase was provided through 22 designated braches of Standard Chartered and Muslim Commercial Banks in Peshawar region.
