Summary The cycle of life is crippled in Balochistan due to the long hours of load shedding.
According to Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO), Quetta is facing a power outage of up to six hours, while in the district headquarters of the province eight to 12 hours a day and in the rural areas of Balochistan up to 16 hours a day load shedding is being observed.The demand of electricity in the province is 1,250 megawatt, whereas the current supply is only 580 megawatt, leaving a deficit of 670 megawatt.The power crisis has made life difficult for farmers and hit hard the agriculture sector.
