The government has decided to transform the defence policy and the new policy will be formed in the accordance with the joint resolution of parliament. The National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence meeting was held in Islamabad under its chairman, Nawab Abdul Ghani Tlapur. Defence Secretary Athar Ali Khan and Security Director General Major General Muhammad Tahir gave an in-camera briefing to the committee about the security arrangements of Pakistan’s nuclear assets. The defence secretary said that the security of the military installations was being reviewed. According to sources, the committee members said that after the Abbottabad incident, attack on PNS Mehran was another intelligence failure. Talking to the media after the meeting, Tlapur said that he was satisfied with the briefing about the nuclear assets.
