Hajj corruption: SC asks to remove ANF deputy DG

Summary Supreme Court asked the establishment secretary to suspend Javed Bukhari from his ANF post.

A five-member Supreme Court bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, heard the Hajj corruption case on Friday.The CJP asked the secretary establishment to remove former Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Additional Director General Javed Bukhari from his current posting as Deputy Chief of Anti-Narcotic Force (ANF), saying that a probe against him would be completed in four weeks.Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director Hussain Asghar and former additional director general Javed Bukhari submitted their replies to the court.Addressing to Bukhari, the CJP said, “Your surrender shows your inefficiency and miss conduct. Your statement does not match with the statement of Hussain Asghar.” The CJP asked the FIA Director General Malik Iqabal why a contempt of court notice would not be served upon him for his dallying in withdrawing the transfer orders of the FIA officials. During the hearing, the chief justice said that the establishment secretary was not serious in carrying out court’s orders. He said that a contempt of court notice should be served upon establishment secretary and interior secretaries.The CJP said that the court was showing respect for the officials but they were exploiting it.
