Summary People face 18 hours load shedding even before the summer starts.
According to government sources, the total electricity shortfall is now up to 3,292 megawatts. The lives of the people were already troubled by the load shedding but the increase in load shedding before the summers is taking its toll on businesses and industries. According to sources, the demand of electricity is 13,092 megawatts while the production is at 9,800 megawatts. In several parts of Karachi, electricity load shedding is up to 8-10 hours while faulty wiring and various breakdowns added another 4-6 hours of load shedding.In Peshawar, unannounced electricity load shedding occurs after every hour which is affecting local businesses. While in some areas of Peshawar, the people are also facing a water shortage.In Multan and central Punjab, load shedding hours are up to 10 hours. According to Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO), load shedding in the urban areas is up to five hours while it is up to seven hours in the urban areas.Faisalabad is also among the badly affected region as in some areas, load shedding hours are up to 16 hours. Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) administered areas which include Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali and Chiniot are facing unannounced load shedding.
