Summary The LHC dismissed a plea, seeking a stay order against the construction of Kalma Chowk flyover.

The applicants’ lawyer, Muhammad Naeem, told the court that the construction of flyover would adversely affect the traders, who were running their businesses near the chowk. He requested the court to order that the mass transit train project should be completed before starting the flyover project. The court observed that the provision of basic facilities to the nation was the responsibility of the government and the court would not interfere in the development work without genuine reasons. The court said that no stay order would be issued against those projects which would be started for the betterment of common man.
