Summary Oil tankers taking supply to the NATO forces were sent back from Jamrud.
Drivers of the NATO oil tankers blocked GT Road on Tuesday after the at a Jamrud check post sent them back to Peshawar. The oil tankers, going to Afghanistan, were sent back without any explanation by the security officials posted at Takhta Bag check post in Jamrud. On the other hand, Peshawar police also told the drivers to leave the city. As a result, more than 20 oil tankers are parked on the side of GT Road near the Tarnab Farm area. The drivers and the owners of the oil tankers, fearing a terrorists attack, said that they had not been allowed to go to Afghanistan for the past three days due to unknown reasons. They also accused the police of torturing and extorting money from them. The drivers’ protest caused a major traffic jam on GT Road. The highway authorities, after negotiating with the drivers, unblocked the road and restored the traffic. The tankers were carrying oil for the NATO forces in Afghanistan.
